Patricia (Pj) Hopwood-Wade, a self-taught Tasmanian water colour artist is often asked, “why emus?” When her workplace was being re-structured, she thought that they needed something in their office to make them smile. She painted an emu. The feedback received from that first emu painting was extraordinary. As it didn’t let up, Patricia thought to herself, “I’m not the only one who wants to look at a painting and smile.” And so started a journey of painting emus doing emu things, including this comical scene of mixed emotions in a red mini.

Patricia’s water colour paintings have been exhibited in numerous Tasmanian exhibitions, sold to private collections in Australia and abroad, and has received several People’s Choice and Highly Commended Awards. Glamour Girls was a finalist in the Five Mile Press’ Australian national illustration competition.
